I loved this company and their coffee, but I canโt deal with their poorly designed nespresso pods. I stopped buying from these guys for 6 months because 50% of their pods just would work โ they would just drip out water. They sent me replacements, which were even worse.
Iโve been happily using a number of other brands for the past 6 months, but thought Iโd try Artizan one more time. Same problem. Itโs such a waste of money and I donโt understand how they do not recognize this problem. Never experienced it with any other brand.
Not only that, I bought my favorite coffee I used to buy from them before, and it is much noticeably worse. Iโm not sure if this is just a batch thing, but unfortunately this is my last order from Artizan.

I ordered an extension tube for my FreshRoast SR540 roaster through Artizan. However, I accidentally ordered the wrong one and it didn't fit my roaster. I emailed them about my goof and they responded quickly and then immediately took care of my issue by sending me the correct one even before I had a chance to return the one I ordered. When I ordered I didn't understand all they sell is expresso. I thought I was ordering some espresso and some regular coffee. When I called to tell them about my misunderstanding, I was informed there are no refunds ever unless the packaging has been damaged. Was also told there was nothing that could be done, even though I hadn't opened anything except 1 package and that their policies are on their website. Which I'm sure is true.
Just be aware when ordering here to understand and read carefully the policies. It was rather a rude awakening for me.

We really wanted to love this coffee, but we don't. My wife and i have been Nespresso devotees for decades. In recent years, we have used Peet's capsules, which are great, but we thought we'd try Artizan because it's organic and the capsules are "compostable," as the company puts it. We do recycle the Peet's capsules, but not religiously, so we thought for the organic aspect and the capsulesโfor which we do credit Artizanโit was worth a shot. Unfortunately, though the capsules do hold up in the machine, we're disappointed. Two reasons: 1) The coffee (across the four varietals we purchased) doesn't taste anywhere near as good as Peet's, or Nespresso's own, for that matter. That alone is a deal breaker for us, though taste is obviously subjective and your mileage may vary. 2) The capsules are indistinguishable from one another, so if you like to have your capsules available in a bin of some sort, or an organizer, there is no way to tell which varietal you are choosing. This is a weird oversight on the company's part. I suppose they expect you to keep the various capsules in their boxes so you know what varietal you are choosing, but that's just impractical, at least for us. We won't be ordering again.

We have a L'Or coffee pod system. Artizan's pods work beautifully with it. I need low-acid coffee. L'Or brand coffee is not low-acid. I truly prefer the flavor of Artizan coffees to the L'Or pods. Artizan pods also have a much smaller environmental footprint. The only real drawback....I need to use two Artizan pods to get a full 8 oz cup of coffee.

I like that this coffee is organic and mold free, and that the capsules are biodegradable.
Does it taste as good as the Nespresso pods? I'm not going to say yes, but they do the job. I like the overall mission of the company and they do a good enough job that I don't choose to go back to Nespresso.
